Some of the most important work AWEX does is to establish partnerships with leading institutions in the US and other countries to help foreign technology companies access markets and resources.

AWEX has formed a partnership with the Texas A&M University System, one of the largest and most respected research organizations in the US. The A&M System boasts a network of nine universities, seven state research agencies and a comprehensive health science center. Texas A&M educates more than 103,000 students and reaches another 15 million people through service every year. With 26,000 faculty and staff, the A&M System has annual research expenditures exceeding $615 million, and is actively developing a cooperative approach to commercializing technologies and co-locating businesses across the ocean.
AWEX and Texas A&M will work together to develop:
- Collocation of start-up and spin-out companies on both sides.
- Collaborative identification and presentations to technology companies interested in gaining access to the European and US market respectively.
- Collaborative approach to multinational companies to encourage industry participation in research programs both at Texas A&M and at Belgian universities involved in the project.
- Realization of market studies, business plans, market validation & strategy services for technology companies considering entering the European market and US market respectively.
